Barry Strayer is currently Assistant Deputy Minister of Justice in the Government of Canada.  A graduate of the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan, he undertook graduate studies at Oxford and Harvard.  He was admitted to the bar of this Province in 1959 and, after serving in the Department of the Attorney General for four years, was appointed to the Faculty of the College of Law.  After seven years on Faculty, he joined the Department of Justice where he is now responsible for the Public Law Branch.  He enjoys a distinguished reputation as a scholar and he appeared as counsel in the litigation concerning the federal proposals for constitutional reform.  He was involved as an advisor to the provincial and federal governments for 22 years in the process of patriation.  During 1981-82, he was a visiting scholar at the Centre for International Affairs at Harvard University.
